If a skater desires one-on-one instruction with a GKSA coach, has already identified the coach with whom he or she would like to work and verified that the coach is accepting new students, he or she is welcome to join as a Club Member by completing a GKSA Membership application. If a skater desires one-on-one instruction but hasn’t yet identified a specific coach with whom he or she would like to work, a Trial Membership is necessary.

Necessary steps for beginning a Trial Membership (Minimally basic level 4)
•Obtain a Trial Membership application from the club website or from one of the Learn to Skate Directors during group lessons.
•Prior to beginning a Trial Membership, the completed Trial Membership form and accompanying fee must be sent to the club’s Membership Chair. He or she will confirm receipt of them and send (via email) a punch card voucher. (On the first day of a scheduled lesson with a club coach, bring the voucher to the ice monitor on duty and he/she will issue an ice punch card. This punch card must be presented to the monitor each time that the skater comes to club ice for lessons. Coaching fees are to be paid directly to the coaches.)
•After receipt of registration has been confirmed, contact coaches to set up lessons with a few different ones so that a good working relationship with one of them may be established. Coach contact information may be obtained on the second page of the Trial Membership registration packet. It is best to set up multiple lessons prior to beginning the actual membership.
•If the skater has decided that he or she would like to become a Club Member, either during the Trial Membership, if a coach has already been chosen, or upon completion of the eight ice card punches, a club registration form may be obtained from the website. Complete the form and send it, along with the appropriate fee, to the club membership chair’s address, which is specified on the form. (Please indicate whether the skater is, or has been a member of another skating club.)
•The membership chair will then send the prospective skater’s name to the Board of Directors for approval as a new club skater. The skater will then be notified as soon as he or she is approved as a Club Member. Once approved, a skater may then purchase ice punch cards from the ice monitor and enjoy lessons with their new coach and the GKSA!
Questions about the Trial Membership may be directed to the membership chair at the club email address (email@example.com).
