Bio: Tara Allen grew up skating in Kalamazoo and was on the first synchronized skating team in the area.  The team became National qualifiers and were the Intermediate National Bronze Medalists in 1996.  Tara was also a founding member of the first Western Michigan University Senior Team as a high school student that same year. Tara continued her skating at the collegiate level while attending Miami University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business.  She was a two-time National Gold Medalist as a member of the Miami University Collegiate Synchronized Skating Team and competed at Intercollegiate Nationals.  She is married to Ryan, a Mechanical Engineer, and they have 2 children, Mason and Ella.

Bio: I skated for Lansing Skating Club most of my skating career.  I was also able to skate for Western Michigan University my entire college career on both the Senior and Collegiate teams while still competing in individual competitions representing the school.  While skating on the Senior team, I was able to help the team qualify for international competitions.  My senior year of college, I was on the team that won the National Championship in 2004. I am an English Language Arts teacher at Hastings Middle School.  Before that, I taught at Battle Creek Central High School for 11 years.  I have a husband and two children, A.J. and Brielle.

Bio:  Jennifer Heurlin-Brenne has been teaching in Kalamazoo since 1993.  In that time she has coached skaters to the Junior National level as well as coaching skaters through several Gold Medal level tests including Moves in the Field, Freestyle and Ice Dance. Heurlin-Brenne moved to Kalamazoo in 1993 after an extensive career as a pair skater.  She and her partner, John Frederiksen, trained in Colorado Springs, Co at the world renowned Broadmoor World Arena and at the University of Delaware Training Center in Newark, Delaware. The team represented the US in several international competitions including 4 World Junior Championships, where they captured the Bronze medal in 1990 & 1991, Skate Canada and Skate America.  Heurlin and Frederiksen were also the 1989 US Figure Skating Championships, Junior Pair Champions. Their partnership ended in 1992.  Jennifer graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS in Merchandising.  She is married to Richard, a high school science teacher, and they have 2 daughters, Jordan and Natalie, who also skate.

Bio: I have been teaching learn-to-skate since 2000 and private lessons and synchronized skating since 2002. I have also been the learn-to-skate Administrative Director since 2011. I grew up on the East side of the state and have been skating since age 3. I attended WMU and was on the Varsity Senior synchronized skating team for 3 years, competing Nationally and Internationally. Using my B.A. in Accounting from WMU,  I work full time for a security and fire alarm company as the Accounting Coordinator. I have also Co-Chaired numerous GKSA events including Skate the Zoo, 2013 Midwestern & Pacific Synchronized Skating Championships, and 2016 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships.
